Energy management platform
Indome OÜ and property developer Avaare Kinnisvara OÜ are implementing a unique energy management platform in the Raadiraja residential developments in Tartu, enabling solar energy generated on the rooftops to be used as efficiently as possible on-site.

The energy generated stays within the building and benefits its residents
Normally, unused solar energy is sold back to the grid. Indome's energy management platform allows electricity generated by rooftop solar panels to be used first for the needs of the building and its residents.
This means lower electricity bills, better return on investment for the solar installation, and more transparent energy accounting — without additional grid fees for energy consumed on-site.
How does the system work?
The platform automatically measures, processes and distributes solar energy data.
Measure
Swiss-made EMU meters perform synchronised 15-minute measurements of the building's energy consumption.
Analyse
The controller automatically collects and processes the data, calculating the relationship between production and consumption.
Distribute
The building's shared electricity demand is covered first, helping reduce the apartment association's operating costs.
Allocate
Any surplus energy is allocated to apartments based on their real-time consumption, encouraging electricity use when solar energy is available.
Why is it beneficial?
Lower electricity bills
Solar energy is consumed on-site without additional grid charges, making the solution more cost-effective.
Higher self-consumption
Generated energy remains within the building instead of being sold back to the grid at a low market price.
Fair and transparent accounting
The system accurately tracks every kilowatt-hour and allocates solar energy according to actual consumption.
Better return on investment
The more energy is consumed within the building, the greater the practical benefit of the solar installation.
Ready for the future
The platform is being developed to support detailed battery storage monitoring and control in the future.
Solar energy is used where it creates the greatest value
When solar electricity is generated on an apartment building rooftop, Indome's energy management platform ensures that as much of that energy as possible is used on-site.
Where is the solution already in use?
The energy management platform is already in use in the Raadiraja residential developments in Tartu, where solar energy sharing takes place daily.
Raadiraja residential developments, Tartu
During summer months, the solar panels can generate more than one-third of the electricity required by the buildings. Shared building consumption is covered first, and the remaining energy is distributed among apartments according to real-time usage.
Modern washing machines, dishwashers and other electrical loads benefit most when they are operated during peak solar production hours.

Suitable for existing buildings as well
The solution is not limited to new developments. Existing buildings can also benefit from an energy management platform by reducing electricity costs and improving transparency.
If a building already has a solar installation or plans to install one, energy management can significantly improve return on investment and ensure that generated energy is used where it creates the most value.
